If you knew you'd live to 100, how would you change your life today?

Not Meant for the Quiet Life

David Flucker has lived around the world, flown with the Royal Air Force in the Second World War, and survived a plane crash. Clearly, the quiet life isn’t for him, despite turning 100. David still travels 3 hours round-trip 3 days per week to work at a charity shop. There he spends his time mending toys, steaming clothes, and chatting with customers at St. Columba’s Hospice Care shop. He loves his job.

At The 100 Year Lifestyle, we often ask if you view your work life as a marathon or a sprint? So, are you in a sprint to the retirement finish line? Or are you in a marathon that will actually keep you mentally, physically, and socially engaged for a long time? Like David Flucker, do you see your work life with a long-term perspective that will keep you living at 100:100, 100% for 100 years…or longer? With more people adopting 100 Year Lifestyles, health, longevity, and vitality are going hand in hand well beyond set retirement dates.

Clearly, David has decided that he is no more meant for the quiet life at 100 than he was in his 20s. He has never stopped being of service. And he isn’t letting something as arbitrary as his age slow him down. Find out how his workplace celebrated his birthday and his life by reading his story here.
