If you knew you'd live to 100, how would you change your life today?

Eddie Bauer Celebrates 100 Years!

For those of you who enjoy getting outside and being one with nature, you probably own a jacket or two from Eddie Bauer. If you don’t, you might want to seriously consider purchasing some of their products as they’ll make your hikes and biking sessions more comfortable all around.

We’re not here just to tell you about jackets and pants, though; Eddie Bauer clothing is more special than that. It has officially been in operation since 1920, and that’s something to celebrate. 100 years of quality products that have lasted a lifetime.

How did Eddie Bauer reach this incredible goal? Who was Eddie Bauer? Let’s dive into the things that matter.

“There can be no compromising quality when lives depend on performance.” – Eddie Bauer

Born in 1899, Eddie Bauer was an American outdoorsman, inventor, author, and businessman. His passion for nature began at an early age, as he grew up in Seattle, Washington, and had the beautiful scenery to help encourage his passion. In 1920, he opened Eddie Bauer’s Tennis Shop at just 20 years old. Of course, it later developed into an all sports sporting goods store that we know as Eddie Bauer today.

His groundbreaking development of the Skyliner, the first down jacket patented in America, came as the result of his suffering nearly fatal hypothermia on a winter fishing trip in 1935. Even though he could have died, he didn’t let this change his outlook on life, and especially not his love for the outdoors. He created something he knew would help others, and it has continued to do so for the last 100 years.

Today, the Eddie Bauer logo can be seen on different articles of clothing all over the world, especially in the woods, mountains, and lakes. The quality of the products have held up over time, and people still stand by his clothes.

Think of your life like Eddie Bauer’s. Though he had plenty of setbacks, he didn’t let that stop him from doing what he loved. He worked even harder to create materials that would keep people alive in outdoor conditions, and made them better. Your life can always be improved; you just have to want to make it so.
