If you knew you'd live to 100, how would you change your life today?

Nice Cream

Think cold, creamy, delicious, all natural, and easy to make. Intrigued? It’s nice cream – not ice cream – nice cream. New to you? It’s ice cream made from a base of frozen bananas. It’s good for you and guilt free. You can flavor it and fix it up any way you like. The possibilities are literally endless.

Start with Bananas

When selecting bananas, the riper the sweeter. Using green bananas also won’t give you the most creamy texture.

Then, slice your bananas onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and put into the freezer until frozen, ideally overnight. Individually frozen slices work better and are easier to portion. Once frozen, place the slices in an airtight container to store for future use.

When you’re ready for dessert or a sweet treat, put a portion of the bananas (you decide on the amount, no judgment) into a food processor using the S blade or into the bowl of a blender. Process until smooth, scraping the sides as needed. That’s it! You’ve created nice cream!

Make It a Party

For many, simple nice cream is sweet and flavorful enough as is. However, it is also the perfect base to add in…whatever you want. Obvious choices include cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and mint flavoring. Or strawberries. How about some nuts, peanut or other nut butter? And, of course, fresh fruit. And let’s not even get into all the possible toppings. If you’ve eaten it or fantasized about it – you can make it.

Want to make your base a little sweeter? A touch of maple syrup or honey ought to do the trick.

If your nice cream starts to melt from processing while you’re in mid-creation, simply put it back in the freezer to reach your desired consistency.

Make too much nice cream? Anything is possible. Store it in an airtight container in the freezer. No one actually knows exactly how long it will last. Making too much isn’t a common problem.  However, if you do put any extra in the freezer and it’s a little hard to scoop when you take it out, simply let it sit out for 10 or 15 minutes until it softens.
