If you knew you'd live to 100, how would you change your life today?

Living Your Best 100 Year Lifestyle

The New Year is almost here. As we look forward to the possibilities of what can be, and what we’d like to be, perhaps the best way to get a clear picture is to take a step back. Before we get caught up in the details, let’s look at the big picture of how we can go about living our best 100 Year Lifestyle, our best life yet.

Canadian researchers recently spoke to women 100 years and older as part of a research study and subsequent documentary. They were trying to find out how centenarians experience aging. What they found instead were four principles that can help us all live our best life – at any age.

Finding Joy

Finding joy is a theme that runs through many centenarians’ lives. Whether it’s social media star Mildred Kirschenbaum’s advice to “enjoy everything,” or María Branyas Morera’s suggestion, “let’s enjoy life together,” – they are living proof that joy in your life leads to longevity.

Whether you call it joy, happiness, or positive thinking – it contributes to better health, a better quality of life, and living at 100% for 100 years or more.

Whether you find your joy in a quiet moment, listening to music, or spending time with loved ones, commit to doing more of it in the New Year! Often, it’s simple, easy things that bring us the most joy. Don’t “save time” at the cost of finding joy. Making the right choices when it comes to joy could lead to your best year yet!

Embrace Your Age

The media has a history of placing greater value on youth. But the tide is turning. Embracing your age and your history is part of living your 100 Year Lifestyle.

Think of your history. Think of the adventures, loss, love, mistakes, and successes that have led you to where you are now. Realize the value of your wisdom and experience. See yourself not as aging, but as sage-ing! Embrace all that you have to offer, and share it with others!

At The 100 Year Lifestyle we know that aging can be a time of discovery, growth, development, inner expansion, and enrichment of life. That sounds like an invitation to start living your best 100 Year Lifestyle!

Look Forward

Living in the present is a good thing. It keeps you focused on the moment and keeps your mind from drifting into places of fear, situations that never happen. However, having something to look forward to doesn’t keep you from living in the moment.

We all have, or should have, moments in the not too distant future that put a smile on our face. Whether it’s an event with family and friends, an upcoming sporting event, or even just a day off to do what we please.

Don’t deprive yourself of the simple joys of anticipation. Sometimes, looking forward to something is even better than that something when it’s here. Remember, appreciate joy wherever you find it as you create your best life ever!

Put Challenges into Perspective

Throughout our lives we all face, and conquer, challenges. It’s a fact of life for everyone. Any challenges that you face as you age can be dealt with in the same way, if not a better way, than you have dealt with challenges in the past. Now you have the wisdom of age.

Putting things into perspective is actually a superpower that grows stronger with age. Many of us appreciate that challenges make us stronger. We see them as an opportunity to learn and grow. When faced head on they can bring about a sense of accomplishment. With every challenge faced and overcome comes a boost of self-confidence. And that’s at any age.

By putting your challenges into perspective this New Year, you’ll create an easier path for yourself, and be a wonderful example for the people in your life who might be struggling with their own challenges.

Putting Health Into Perspective

As the clock ticks and the New Year begins, remember how important it is to take care of your health. Everything is possible when you are living at 100%. Everything is a challenge when you aren’t taking proper care of yourself.

Luckily, there is a 100 Year Lifestyle provider excited to help you ring in the New Year with the health and vitality that is your birthright. Lifestyle chiropractic care should be the foundation of living your best life ever in the New Year!
