If you knew you'd live to 100, how would you change your life today?

Let’s Enjoy Life Together

María Branyas Morera lived through two world wars, the Spanish civil war, the 1918 flu pandemic, and Covid. She made headlines shortly after her 113th birthday as one of the world’s oldest Covid survivors. Now, after the passing of 118-year-old Lucille Randon, María has been recognized as the oldest person alive. In an interview where she shared her story and wisdom, María ended with the suggestion, “Let’s enjoy life together.” Clearly, a positive outlook has been part of what has gotten her this far.

Born in California, María has been living in Spain since she was a child. In a life filled with joy and struggle, family and loss, she has learned a thing or two. María credits her longevity to “order, tranquility, good connection with family and friends, contact with nature, emotional stability, no worries, no regrets, lots of positivity and staying away from toxic people.” In other words, living her 100 Year Lifestyle.

Born in 1907, María has seen a lot. While she loves modern technology and the ability to communicate easily with her three children, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, she believes that people lived “more peacefully and more joyfully” at the beginning of the 20th century. Still, she believes in lifelong learning and continues to learn something new every day. A fan of Twitter, María shared some amazing wisdom in her New Year’s Day 2023 tweet. Hers were the perfect words for us all to take into the new year – or a new day. Curious about what she said? Keep reading.
