You read it right. His friends call him Frank Astaire. His name is Frank Hasman but his love of dance and moves on the dance floor have earned him the nickname “Frank Astaire.” Whether it’s ballroom, rock, swing, foxtrot, samba, or rumba, he’s on the floor. Dancing is something Frank has been doing since he was young. He’s now 101.
Seeing Frank on the dance floor you’d never guess his age. What you notice is the big smile on his face, his amazing moves, how fit he is, and how much he enjoys the company of his dance partners.
The fact is, Frank has had a few dance partners over the years. Frank and his wife danced several times a week until she passed when he was 64. It wasn’t until a year later that he put his shoes back on and found another partner in life and on the dance floor. He spent the next 23 years dancing with her until she passed. Two years after her death Frank still wasn’t ready to give up on dancing. He found a new partner who he danced with for 10 years until she passed early this year.
These days Fred is still on the dance floor, only now he switches partners according to the style of dance. Few can keep up with him. Friends say he not only has the technique of a master but the stamina of an athlete. And he simply loves to dance.
