If you knew you'd live to 100, how would you change your life today?

Yoga Trends You Must Try!

Yoga is a fascinating practice. It is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India and still practiced by people today. As with everything, it has undergone some changes to meet the needs and interests of those who partake in it today. No matter what age you are, this practice is for everyone, while its benefits are innumerable. Here are some yoga trends you must try!

Yin

in Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga as exercise, and it’s a favorite among beginners. It incorporates principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with asanas that must be held for longer periods of time. Asana is translated to “steady and comfortable.” These positions are held anywhere from 45 seconds to two minutes, and for the advanced yogis, they may stay in one asana for five minutes or more. If you are hesitant for any reason, yin yoga might be the best to try out for any first timers to see how it works with your body.

Bikram

This kind of yoga most directly translates to what we know today as “hot yoga.” This is a newer form of yoga practiced in a purposely very hot and humid room, which results in copious amounts of sweating once completed. Most rooms reach a maximum temperature of 105 degrees with a humidity of 40 percent. Some practices seek to replicate the heat and humidity of India to get back to its roots. This is a great option for those looking to try something new. It allows you to push your boundaries to see what your body can handle (without going overboard).

Prenatal Yoga

Even mothers expecting children don’t have to miss out on any of the healthy fun. Thanks to prenatal yoga classes, mothers-to-be have the ability to stay in shape while carrying a child. Not only does this practice keep you active and healthy, but it also helps prepare for you the actual process of birthing your child. According to the Mayo Clinic, prenatal yoga can improve sleep, reduce stress and anxiety, increase the strength, flexibility and endurance of muscles needed for childbirth, and even decrease lower back pain, nausea, headaches and shortness of breath.

Goat Yoga

Perhaps the most unique (and most adorable) type of yoga on this list is goat yoga. Traditional, yoga practices clearing your mind and body. Goat yoga, however, is all about having a good time. Baby goats prance around you and on you, resulting in laughter that’s good for the body, mind, and soul.

These are only a few of the options available. The 100 Year Lifestyle encourages you to try them all out to determine what’s best for your body. Remember to never stop doing, learning, and seeking out more.
