John Hartness has been flying high since he was 16 years old. So, it’s no wonder that he took to the sky to celebrate his 100th birthday. According to John, there wasn’t a single thing he’d rather be doing.
That’s particularly surprising when you consider that John frequents the Triple Tree Aerodrome on a regular basis. Actually, he volunteers six to seven days a week.
Man With a Mission
According to the aerodromes’ executive director, John contributes to the non-profits mission to ignite and expand a passion for aviation by mentoring people and acting as an ambassador. And it sounds like he is the perfect man for the job. John is considered by all to be a positive man with a great spirit and a love of flying.
Surrounded by family and friends before the flight, John told local reporters that “Flying is the best feeling of freedom you can have, to get up there and be up there in the air with nobody but me and God.”
Passionate People
But John isn’t the only one in his family to have a passion that lasted their whole life. John’s mother also lived to be 100. She was passionate about music and playing the piano and kept doing so past her 100th birthday.
Having a hobby or activity that gets you up in the morning and that you are excited about doing your whole life…that’s living 100:100, at 100% for 100 years or more.
